FATHER Aloysius Bukenya, the rector of St Paul’s Bukinda in Kabale district, was on Wednesday admitted in Kigonzi Clinic after a passenger doused him with chloroform.
Bukenya was aboard the Kampala-Kabale bound Kibungo bus. The Police suspect Bukenya took the chloroform in the juice given to him by a passenger who shared with him a seat in the bus on Tuesday evening.
When The New vision visited the clinic on Wednesday, Bukenya was still unconscious.
The deputy OC/CID, James Kajabwami, said Bukenya was picked from Kabale taxi Park where he was lying unconscious in dirty clothes.
Kajabwami said they were investigating the mater and would record statements from the bus conductors and passengers.
“We suspect something fishy. The bus conductor should be knowing what happened to their passenger and should be able to explain,†Kajabwami said.
He said they suspect that the victim lost money and other personal property.
