UGANDA will host the first ever East Africa women’s rugby 7’s meet slated for October 23 at the Kyadondo rugby grounds.

The inaugural tournament organised by the Thunderbirds rugby team, has attracted 10 teams from Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda.

In preparation for the tournament, the Thunderbirds Yellow and Thunderbirds Blue teams will converge at the Kyadondo Rugby pitch today where instructor Jim Park will select players for the national team to represent Uganda during the event.

Thunderbirds secretary, Jacqueline Kigozi revealed that they had already received confirmation from the Kenyan, Rwandan and Burundi teams.
“Tanzania is yet to send us a reply,” she added.

The Thunderbirds, who lifted the Safari Kabeberi and Kisumu sevens titles in Kenya three months ago, are yet to add the East African 7’s title to their list.
AON Insurance, ICE MARK Africa, Coca Cola, Rwenzori water and Silk Royale have boosted preparations.
