MUKONO district has accepted to clear a sh798m debt, arising out of the construction of the district headquarters.
This is after the contractor, Excel Construction, took up the matter with the Commercial Court.
Excel’s lawyer, Andrew Kasirye, told Justice Ssempa Lugayizi on Wednesday that the parties to the case were working on settling the debt.
Kasirye asked for an adjournment, saying they expected to file the final consent judgement soon.
Lugayizi adjourned the matter to October 20.
Excel went to court after Mukono advertised bids for the roofing of its headquarters. Excel asked court to hold the bidding, till they were paid.
Excel said the advertisement showed that Mukono had money but was just refusing to clear its debt.
