EAST Africa is among 55 combined teams that have entered the Standard Chartered Bank $1m ‘Greatest Race on Earth Marathon Challenge’ which will take place in four cities and two continents, reports Norman Katende.

The bank’s corporate affairs chief Harriet Musoke, yesterday said a team of four, Ugandan Alex Malinga (expected to run the first leg in Nairobi, Kenyans David Kiprono, Mark Komindany and Tanzania’s Sambu Sipe, has already registered for the East Africa team.
“Each one of them will run in one of the races and if they have the lowest aggregate, then they win the $0.4m top prize for the team event. There will be cash prizes up to the top 15,” said Musoke.

Also national teams that enter the competition will be able to share out a $0.145m cash prize while the individual with the fastest time win$0.1m.

The race starts Sunday in Nairobi and will also have races in Singapore (Dec 5), Mumbai (Jan 16) and Hong Kong (Feb 27).
