LOCAL dancehall reggae stars, Menton Kronno (Vincent Kibondwe) and General Mega Dee (Amos Kigenyi) released their new album on Monday.
The album, Oli Mukazi (You are a housewife), is arguably the duo’s best since their advent on the local music scene in the 1990s. The singers’ voices have attained maturity and the sound quality is generally good. The CD Oli Mukazi has eight tracks, which are highly captivating in terms of lyrics and message.
The thrilling title track, Oli Mukazi, is played in the style of roots reggae. Such classical elements as modulation make it interestingly unique. The song cautions housewives against mischievous conduct such as as gossip, which deter spouses from fulfilling their marital responsibilities.
Nakibuuka, a lover’s rock hit, is an adaptation of a Ganda folk song, which enforces sexual morality among teenage girls.
Bbaluwa yo (your letter), is a modern reggae love track, which highlights the necessity for communication between distant lovers. Ntaama, Ntindi (Lusoga names) are about the long time friendship between Mega Dee and Kronno. Their early friendship/shared-experiences are highly projected.
The dance hall reggae track, Blue Jeans (by Eddy Rash), is a fashion song. It praises the trendy jean trousers, which make ladies look extra-ordinarily cute.
Oli Mukazi was released at City Music Suppliers at Old Taxi Park. The album was recorded at No End Entertainment Studio in Kamwokya.
