JINJA — The Mpumudde/Kimaka division LC3 chairman, Michael Kasede, has urged illiterate men to enrol for adult literacy programmes. Kasede said this on Wednesday at a Functional Adult Literacy (FAL) workshop at the Town Hall. He expressed concern over the poor participation of males in FAL programmes, saying many feared to be seen going to study, while others assumed it was entirely a women’s programme. He said such misrepresentation would leave men behind, as women excelled.

SIRONKO — A pit sawyer was recently crushed to death by a tree he was illegally cutting in the Mt. Elgon National park. The chief warden Mt. Elgon national park, Joseph Serugo, said Kenneth Gimadu was cutting trees for building poles. Serugo said Gimadu’s body was later handed over to family members for burial. Illegal lumbering is common in the park.
