Kingdom finance minister J.B. Walusimbi on Tuesday said his hands were tied because he did not know where to get the money. He attributed the lack of funds to poverty, fewer people leasing the kingdom land and the limited revenue collection base.

UNEB plans north exams

Pupils and students in northern Uganda will sit national examinations despite the war.
Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) secretary Matthew Bukenya on Thursday said they had a plan to ensure that the students and pupils sat their exams, but did elaborate on the plan.

Court stops Bireije cuts

COURT has stopped the Ministry of Public Service from cutting the salary of Dennis Bireije, one of the government’s interdicted lawyers.
The High Court’s Justice Okumu Wengi also allowed Bireije to challenge his interdiction by the Solicitor General and removal from office by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

Graduate for Bamunanika
MAKERERE University graduate Tendo Ssali has declared his intention to vie for the Bamunanika parliamentary seat.
Ssali, who holds a Bachelors degree in Science and a member of the Movement for Democratic Change said this on Friday in an interview. The seat fell vacant after the resignation of Kisamba Mugerwa.

2,000 refugees enter Moyo

At least 2,000 Sudanese refugees recently crossed into Moyo district from Southern Sudan.
The refugees, who are mainly women and children, are settled in Itula sub-county in Obong county.
