SIR— About three weeks ago, Tororo district leaders visited President Yoweri Museveni in his home at Rwakitura to discuss various issues about the district.
However, most surprising to the people of Tororo was a demand to create separate districts of Iteso and Banyole from Tororo district, which issue was not part of the district memo to the President.
That means Tororo will have Banyole, Iteso and Jopadhola as districts. I have discovered that there is an administration problem in the district leadership which can be solved.
But some political leaders have spearheaded this division to ensure they gain popularity from Movement supporters in Teso who up to now are looking for good leaders.
I wish to advise the Government not to grant districts in Tororo on tribal grounds or else it will cause a lot of problems to other tribes in Tororo district. Already, tension is high between the Jopadhola in West Budama county and the Iteso in Tororo county.
Both tribes have always accommodated to each other and worked together without any discrimination. Now some leaders want them divided.
I would like to appeal to the President to study the issue of Tororo carefully and not allow the enemies of the people of Tororo to divide them. For God and my country.
