FUFA secretary Haruna Mawanda has replied sports minister Okello Oryem for his directive on the federation’s elections. Mawanda told the minister that FUFA will follow their constitution, reports Norman Katende.
The letter written last week followed the minister’s second directive for FUFA to hold an elective assembly by December 15.
“We wrote to inform him that we are governed by our company’s memorandum of associations and whatever we do will be under this, since it is our constitution,†said Mawanda.
He said that they were not breaking ties with government as it was earlier reported.
“The most important thing whether a limited company or not is for us to work together with government. We cannot break ties with government when the sport needs funding. We have to convince them to come on board and that is what we are working on.
“Our association does not have that much money to stand alone,†he said.
