FUEL prices have risen again, sending diesel to sh1,520 from sh1,470 and Kerosene to sh1,400 from sh1,330.
Petrol has remained at sh1,760.
Shell Uganda managing director Ivan Kyayonka attributed the increase to a hike in international prices.
“the differences in the increase of the prices is because the price of each of the fuel products is independent. They do not have to go up or down at the same time,” Kyayonka said.
Recently, fuel prices rose by sh70. Petrol rose from sh1,690 to 1,760, diesel from sh1,400 to sh1,470 and Kerosene from sh1,260 to sh1,330.
Kyayonka said the prices operate on the forces of demand and supply.
For the last two weeks, world crude oil prices were over US$50 a barrel.
“When world fuel prices increase, we also increase pump prices,” Kyayonka said, adding that it was hard to predict an increase or reduction in the fuel prices.
He said the price increase had also been due to conflicts in oil producing regions like Nigeria and strengthening of the dollar against the Uganda shilling.
