Last Friday, October 29, a battalion of swimmers swarmed the International School of Uganda, formerly Lincoln International School for the annual International school’s swimming gala. For Kabira international School, even though the gala promised to be very exciting, they did not expect to win. “ Over the last 18 months, Kabira has lost more than 20 good swimmers from the team and gained only one or two,” says Heather Oliver, the Head of PE and Swimming coach at Kabira School. Kabira’s swimmers were under pressure and even had 10 and 11-year-olds competing in the 14 and above races. However, they managed to scoop 729 points, beating ISU and Rainbow International School to the top position.
Heather says they managed to win because Kabira has a good swimming lesson and coaching programme and a lot of parental support for the teachers, coaches and the swimmers.
Kabira International School has carried home several other swimming trophies, including the Uganda Open Swimming Federation gala on September 29.
