Kapchorwa district leaders have backed a third term for president Yoweri Museveni.
Meeting at Kaserem sub-county headquarters on Saturday, the leaders said a third term would allow Museveni to extend the tarmac road and hydro-electricity from Kapchorwa town to Suam border town.
“We support the lifting of presidential term limits in the Constitution,” district woman MP Gertrude Kulany said.
Kulany made the declaration on behalf of Dr. John Yeko, the MP for Kween county, Dr. Stephen Chebrot (Tingey), Frances Kuka (former MP), Nelson Chelimo (LC5 chairman) and Capt. Juma Seiko (ADC to Salim Saleh).
The leaders shook hands as over 400 voters looked on.
Kulany said the district needed more schools and only Museveni could cater for that.
Kulany, who recently met Museveni, said the President was willing to appoint a minister from Kapchorwa district but had withheld the offer due to conflict among district politicians.
