DEFENDING champion Esther Okullo says she is not shaken by the tough opposition she will face in the Uganda Ladies Golf Open.

“I pray to my creator everyday for guidance and I have always been rewarded,” Okullo said.

I am leaving everything to God, I am ready for any situation.”

Uganda’s premier ladies golf event is played over 54 holes at Kitante course. It tees off tomorrow.
Okullo is up against the challenge of Kenyan, Tanzanian and Zimbabwean stars due in Kampala today.

Three-time winner Rose Naliaka from Kenya, Tanzanian ace Sophie Vigo are Okullo’s main rivals.

The event, jointly sponsored by Celtel Uganda, Goodyear tyres, FedEx, NIC, Aon Uganda and Christex Garments has attracted 70 players.

Meanwhile, Ugandans have arrived in Kigali for the Rwanda Open.

Akope, Godfrey Mande, Charles Yokwe, Dennis Anguyo and Stephen Kasaija will lead Uganda’s challenge. The Ugandans will however face stiff competition from Kenyans Nelson Lugano (h/c2), James Abira (h/c6) and John Katibi (h/c 6).

“Kenyans are now also coming, but we will do our best,” defending champion Deo Akope promised.
Rwanda will look to local stars Emmanuel Ruterana, Joseph Semwanga and Stephen Katwiremu for glory.
