Girl sues mom over marriage

A FIFTEEN-year old girl has reported her mother to Gulu Police for trying to marry her off.

A FIFTEEN-year old girl has reported her mother to Gulu Police for trying to marry her off.
The girl, a primary six pupil, told the Police that her mother recently “sold†her for 15 jerrycans of lira-lira (crude gin) to a man in Gulu town.
The girl was saved by her aunt who returned the gin to the man.
The Gulu district police commander, Richard Mvule, identified the woman as Grace Ajok, 45, of Kinyala Zebra Water Supply in Masindi district.
Mvule said the girl told them that Ajok also tried to marry her off to another man in Masindi district but she fled and reported the matter to the police.
