I must say Opegi is wrong about Luganda

SIR— People like Agnes Opige should know that much as English is the official language, 50% of students at Makerere and other universities are not articulate enough in it.

I haven’t mentioned high ranking officials in government and public service. I don’t think they went to Swahili-speaking schools. Still I dare them write a letter in Swahili.

Luganda is in advanced stages of our day-to-day literary life and it is cheaply and readily available.

Much as we have embraced English for the last 42 years, American and British companies are outsourcing us in non-English speaking countries.
