APAC district Beach Management Units (BMUs) have impounded 1,500 illegal fishing nets worth sh300m this year and burnt them, reports <b>Patrick Opio.</b>
APAC district Beach Management Units (BMUs) have impounded 1,500 illegal fishing nets worth sh300m this year and burnt them, reports Patrick Opio.
The district fisheries officer, Ojok-Ocen, said recently the BMUs launched several operations to crack down on under-sized fishing nets at landing sites on Lake Kwania.
He said the nets were burnt at the landing sites in Kwania, Maruzi and Kyoga counties.
