FUFA president Denis Obua has at last announced that he will be seeking re-election as the FUFA assembly elects a new executive February 5, 2005.

Obua said that he was ready to take on the likes of Michael Okiror and Twaha Kakaire in the run for the country’s top football job.

Obua’s request for a one-year term extension for the executive so that he doesn’t seek re-election was not debated during the few constitution amendments at the assembly on Tuesday.

“I have a lot of dreams and achievements. It is just that the critics are pointing out the few bad ones and forgetting the good ones. I am football and I will never go away from football,” said Obua.

He said that the referees, match commissioners and coaches have got further training and he has built an office and will still build a technical center when Phase II of the goal project comes next year.
“People say that every country is entitled to a goal project but how many African countries have not got phase I,” said Obua.

He was’t yet done as he reasoned “Aren’t these countries also members of FIFA . Why are we among the first to get Phase II,” he questioned. “I welcome all those who want to contest but I will also be there.”

Obua is expected to face strong competition from Okiror, a Kumi delegate, who has already started his campaign and former president Twaha Kakaire, who said that he would also stand.

The presidential nominations are set to start December 21 and end January 1.

David Agong will be back as returning officer of the electoral process that begins with the election of delegates.
