JINJA Municipality East MP Igeme Nabeta is not impotent. To prove his sexual prowess, Nabeta yesterday paraded before excited MPs a one-year-old girl he said was his daughter.

He lavished kisses on the child, Cindy Nabeta, as he criticised The Red Pepper tabloid for saying he had been “hit by a ram”, the Luganda saying for impotence.

Not every MP, however, was amused. Youth MPs Nassar Basajjabalaba (Western) and Daniel Kidega (Northern) referred to Nabeta’s action as ‘Ottoism’.

Last year, MP Odonga Otto (Aruu) paraded his family before Parliament to protest defence state minister Ruth Nankabirwa’s reference to him as a young man.

Nabeta, however, insisted to journalists at Parliament, “This is not the first time the tabloid calls me impotent. This is my kid and the mother is right now at home. I am a married man though my family lives in America. They have just come for Christmas.”

Nabeta said the tabloid reported that his voters were wondering if he was sexually incapacitated and that they would not vote for him if he did not marry. He said nobody should be pressured to marry early if they did not want to.
