While many of them read like a charm, the product is often less than satisfactory. On the other hand a large menu can work well provided one sticks to one school of thought. A case in point would be the Chinese menu where much of the food is stir fried and cooked on demand. In this case those in the kitchen are able to do the mise en place (prep the inputs in advance) and guarantee an order will not take an eternity to be served.
A while back we paid sh7,500 for a grilled fillet steak at the Voyager Restaurant, not only were we impressed with the quality of the meal, but thought the price was reasonable. A couple of years later and one will have to fork out close to 30 percent more.
Obviously price increase rather like taxes is inevitable, but then it is a curious situation when breakfast goes up by seven and half percent in the same period.
Back to the food, it is a safe bet the food at this joint is generally well prepared and the chef-in-situ knows a thing or two about cooking. I particularly recommend their mixed grill. It goes without saying one would expect no less from the people who prepare food for such clients as British Airways and other airlines that make stopovers at Entebbe International Airport.
The service is fast and the waiters are pleasant and the food takes no more than 10 minutes from the grills. There is also a snack menu comprising samosas, pies and cakes. One would hope that next year would see a facelift, as the place seems generally run down.
