DEATH

Motorsport icon Paddy Blick is dead, reports James Bakama.

Blick, 59, died at 9am yesterday as he was being rushed to Kampala International Hospital after collapsing at his Bweyogerere residence.

The deceased's mother, Molly Blick, while recounting her son's last moments said she found him unconscious in his sitting room.

Arthur Blick Jnr, a nephew of the former star, said the death could be heart-related. Postmortem results were, however, still being awaited from Mulago Hospital where the body was later taken.

The icon's younger brother Arthur Blick, also a motorsport star in his hey days, said burial will be in Buterere near Masaka town tomorrow. There will be a funeral service at All Saints Cathedral at 2pm today.

Friends and colleagues were shocked by the death.

"He was an ever fit man who never complained of any complications," said Federation of Motorsport Clubs in Uganda (FMU) President Jack Wavamunno.

Blick played golf on Saturday and the following day went for a 10-kilometre bicycle ride.
