Tina school, the epitome of style

Her dream came true on December 13, when she exhibited her own designs during a graduation ceremony that saw her and 50 others getting diplomas and certificates at the Tina International School of Beauty.Monlisa, a graduand showed her superiority by exhibiting her self-designed casual, traditional, evening, bridal and office outfits.Upon receiving her diploma, Monlisa told The New Vision that she had invested a lot of time and was patient enough to complete her two-year fashion design course sponsored by her husband Mr. Ochieng.Tina school, located on Mbogo Road between Kabalagala and Kibuli suburbs, makes the dreams of its students a reality as far as fashion designing is concerned. The students leave holding diplomas and certificates from City and Guilds College of Lon-don, an examining body, and their own school.This was the school’s fifth graduation ceremony. Fifty graduands modelled their designs and hairstyles to prove they were worth the honour. They also exhibited their authentic designs.To get a clear view of the event and make your own judgement, you needed to be present. The school is recognised for designing one of the outfits worn by the reigning Miss Uganda, Victoria Nabunya, during the finals of the competition at Munyonyo.Invited guests and parents looked in admiration as model after model walked on the sun-bathed catwalk, and grinned in suspense at their departure.The graduands also sang and staged plays. They put up a show that left youth MP (Central) Rose Namayanja speechless.As if breathless, Namayanja started, “I am short of words because of what I have seen. We have different talents, but when one’s talent is identified, they should be supported to develop them just like these graduands. We should use their services.”The ceremony was presided over by state minister for energy and mineral development Kamanda Bataringaya who braved a hot sunny afternoon in the packed compound.Bataringaya, who was equally surprised by the show, praised the school, saying it was producing job makers, which is in line with government’s efforts to produce job creators. Modern hairstyles, fashions like the casual, bridal evening wear, were displayed.The Principal of the School Ruth Kibirige was surprisingly one of the graduands. She was awarded a Diploma by the City and Guilds College of London.
