Man’s Lips Cut Off In Election Violence

By Frederick KiwanukaSUPPORTERS of an LC3 candidate in Wobulenzi town chopped off the lips of an opponent’s supporter, as election violence continued to escalate across Luweero district yesterday.It was the third case of election violence in three days. On Wednesday, a supporter in Bamunanika bled to death after being stabbed in the thigh. A mob later beat his assailant into coma.Luweero Police boss, Mr. Godfrey Taire, identified the man who lost his lips as Isaac Kaweesa, a resident of Bukorwa village in Wobulenzi town council.Taire said a mob stormed Kaweesa’s home after midnight on Friday morning and chopped off his lips.The Police yesterday searched for the village chairman only identified as Ssempa. Ssempa reportedly led the mob that attacked Kaweesa.In a separate incident, Luweero Police yesterday arrested a man from Kikoma village near Wobulenzi, after he was reportedly found concealing a knife at a campaign rally. The Police only identified the culprit as Kasule.Ends
