By Joseph BatteSC Villa treasurer Ahmed Omar Mandela has advised KCC not to cling onto players who desire to move to another club, no matter how good they are.“However good a player is, if he shows signs that he wants to go to another team, don’t hold onto him,†said Mandela. He said that in reference to KCC striker Saidi Abedi who wants to play for Villa this season.Villa want the player but KCC, who still lay rightful claim over him because he’s only played for them one season, won’t hear none of it. Mandela said Villa had to let Hassan Mubiru go when he told them he was moving to Express.“We didn’t want to lose Mubiru because he was our star player but we had to release him when we noticed that his heart was with Express,†he said.Mandela also pointed at Andrew Mukasa’s “below-par†performance against Express in the Kankungulu Cup final at Namboole last season as another example why a club should never hang onto a player.
