By Emmanuel Mulondo The delay of declaration of results for the Fort Portal mayorship has thrown Kabarole LC5 candidates into a verbal war in the media.Incumbent district chairman Augustine Kayonga on Saturday evening featured on Voice of Toro radio accusing his rival, Steven Kaliba, of circulating rumours that Kayonga was behind the delay to manipulate the exercise against Asaba Ruyonga.The district electoral registrar, Molly Mutazindwa, said on Friday that declaration of the final results was awaiting a decision of the Electoral Commission after polling on a station in Muhooti Military Barracks was put off due to irregularities. Provisional results put Asaba Ruyonga, Dr. Kiiza Besigye’s former campaign agent in a lead with 6,728 votes against the incumbent and official Movement candidate Bob Kaganda’s 4,436. A third candidate, Mwanguhya Kadama, was trailing with 91 votes.The results represented 29 out of 30 polling stations in the municipality.
