By Reuben Olita in NairobiTEN protesting councillors have thanked Uganda Government for giving Kenyan assistant education minister Samuel Poghisio, a clean bill of health over recent allegations of his involvements in Uganda’s disarmament exercise. The team led by Kapenguria mayor Jacob Samuli threatened to expose leaders who are bent on curtailing President Yoweri Museveni’s disarmament programme and the peace existing between the Pokot and their Karimojong neighbours. They said they will continue with the peace initiatives with their neighbours under Poghisio as the chairman.Terming the recent alleged censor and arrest of the Kenyan minister as ‘futile bid’, they said some ‘disgraced’ former politicians in Kapenguria and Upe county were behind the dirty scheme. The councillors also said some politicians were driving in and out of Amudat peddling false information and challenged them to come out clear of their under-the-table manoeuvre.“Pokots and Karimojong had arrived at a lasting peace and we would like it to continue that way instead of allowing a few disgruntled elements to tear it asunder,” they said. The leaders defended Poghisio against malicious attacks saying that he had spearheaded the current peaceful transition between the Pokots and the Karimojong.
