Kabale Catholic Church Deplores Orumuri Story

By Darious MagaraTHE Catholic diocese of Kabale has reacted angrily to Orumuri story which claimed it is collecting sh300 from each Christian to support Dr. Francis Runumi’s campaigns.Runumi, the Kabale district council chairman, is seeking re-election and is being challenged by the Speaker, Edson Kakuru.The Orumuri, last week claimed Catholics were raising funds to support Runumi’s candidature. The parish priests in a meeting chaired by Bishop Robert Gay on Wednesday threatened to sue the paper if the editor does not retract the story.“We strongly condemn lies that the Church is pooling resources to support Runumi. The story is erroneous and intended to destroy the image of the diocese and the leaders,” the statement said.Ends
