Mukono Man Gets 10 Years For Incest

A man who defiled his nine-year-old daughter was yesterday sentenced to 10 years in prison, reports Florence Nakaayi.Justice Caroline Atima Okello sentenced Ahamada Katende, 41, a resident of Bulongo, Ngogwe sub-county in Mukono district.Sitting at the High Court at Nakawa, Okello said she was satisfied with the prosecution evidence that Katende was guilty of the offence. On passing sentence, Okello said basing on the fact that Katende admitted that he had two wives, he had no excuse to defile his daughter and deserved a deterrent sentence. Katende committed the offence between April and June 1999 at Bulongo village in Mukono district.On June 20, the convict ordered the victim to accompany him to uproot yams in their garden.After uprooting a few yams, he ordered her to undress. When the girl tried to run, he grabbed her and defiled her several times.Later, the girl reported the matter to her elder sister who informed the the LC officials who arrested him.Ends
