By Pidson KareireHIS style of cracking jokes has not changed much over the months but, unbelievably, Allan, the Cantankerous, former presenter on Capital FM, was eager and able to thrill fans at Mbarara’s Rwizi Arch Hotel last weekend.Though a blackout of about 20 minutes disrupted the show, this could not stop it. Once the technicians had worked their magic, the show continued. it was the launch of Allan’s Entertainment group.Sponsored by Jordano Fashions, Greater African Radio and Rwizi Arch Hotel, the group will be performing every weekend at Rwizi Arch’s precious gardens. “Every weekend I might be there for some a little bit of joking,”Mugisha said jokingly. This is happy hour. A beer goes for sh1,000 and the recommended dress code is high quality casual wear, like T-shirts, jeans, jean trousers and corduroys. As if hosting his own late night show, Mugisha said, “Organising this function has been so difficult. We even had to put posters on toilets.”Experiencing the ultimate fan, combined with the thrill of diligently selected music by DJ’s from African Great Radio, the excitement of revellers in Rwizi Arch gardens never stopped. With the power of Lager, they shouted, “Allan kwonka iwe! (But you, Allan). No one at that time could accuse him of not being so funny. In fact, with each new series of jokes, the wails would block our ears.
