Tuppa have resolved to compensate hundreds of Ugandans, who lost their cattle and other property in the process of expelling them. This was contained in resolutions agreed on at the extra-ordinary joint border meeting between Bukoba and Karagwe districts of Tanzania and Mbarara and Rakai of Uganda on January 18. The meeting, attended by 62 delegates, was held at Lake View Regency Hotel in Mbarara. “A list of illegal immigrants, who claim that their properties and animals were retained in Tanzania, should be handed over to Tanzania district officials for immediate response,” the resolution document seen by The New Vision said. It was resolved that ‘a list of claimants should be produced for redress’ for Ugandans and Tanzanians whose properties were taken as exhibits in either country’s courts of law. Ends
