Ochan wins SA scholarship

By Ronnie Kintu YOUNGSTER Patrick Ochan is travels to South Africa today for a one-month training course sponsored by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) chief Peter Ntaki confirmed yesterday that arrangements were in the final stages to have the youngster’s travel documents ready on time.Ochan, a 13-year pupil at East Kololo primary, hit the international stage with a bang last August when he played outstandingly in Mombassa winning two tournaments in a row.His good performance in the just concluded Africa junior U-14 championships last month, where he beat Sudan’s Muhammod Assakis 6-4 6-3 in the finals, earned him an excellent mark by ITF.“He is a determined prodigy who knows what he wants,” remarked coach John Oduke.ends
