My sympathy to Mrs Ojera

SIR—I spent two very happy and fascinating weeks in Uganda last month. My visit was made at the most generous invitation of President Yoweri Museveni whom I had last met when he was a student at Ntare School, Mbarara.

SIR—I spent two very happy and fascinating weeks in Uganda last month. My visit was made at the most generous invitation of President Yoweri Museveni whom I had last met when he was a student at Ntare School, Mbarara. By a strange coincidence, I read in The New Vision a reference to the late Alex Ojera and his family. When I arrived at Sir Samuel Baker School, Gulu in 1959, with my then wife, Alex and his wife were our nearest neighbours. Alex was a good friend, a good teacher, and a good man.I was very sorry indeed to learn, in 1973, he had been killed.I am also very sorry to learn, now, of the recent death of Caroline, and I would like to express, through your kind offices, my sympathy to Mrs Ojera and her family, and to add my best wishes for the future.Gordon Byers4 Abbot Street MarshHuddersfield HDI 4NS, UK
