PUPILS at Kisigula-Mutundwe Blessed Primary School are yet to get used to their new teacher, former president Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa. The whole school, including the teachers, yesterday got excited on seeing a chauffeur-driven teacher arriving at the school in the afternoon to teach English. For headmaster Isaac Musoke, the experience was a unique one. “I just can’t believe that out of the more than 10,000 primary schools in the country, the former president chose Kisigula-Mutundwe Blessed Primary School. We are indeed blessed,” he said.Wearing a short-sleeved white shirt, a grey pair of trousers and carrying a black bag full of text books, Binaisa yesterday arrived at the school at 2.30pm. The curious pupils cheerfully received the former head of state into the newly-built wooden classroom. They have from now on to get used to Binaisa’s American accent. As he started the lesson yesterday, the former head of state asked the children if they understood him. “Very well, Sir,” they replied. One pupil, Sarah Birungi, remarked, “I can hear and understand what he is saying because he speaks very well and in simple English.” Smartly dressed in red and white-striped uniforms, the pupils listened attentively as he taught them grammar, poetry and current affairs.Headmaster Musoke and class teacher Hassan Kironde attended yesterday’s lesson.Ends
