A cash-crisis nearly cost the Bika boxing championship at Lugogo yesterday. National Council of Sports (NCS) wanted to lock out the boxers from the indoor stadium for non-payment.

It took pleading from UABF secretary Mohammed Sebuguzi for NCS to rescind the decision.Only three clans Ffumbe, Mmamba and Njovu have paid sh20,000 participation fee.An irritated Sebuguzi declared today as deadline for settling the dues. “There will be no more negotiations,” he stressed. Ffumbe took a big leap towards retaining the title after gunning 11 points by quarterfinals yesterday. Mamba is second with seven, one better than Mutima and Ngo. ends
