Quicken Trial â€" Nyanzi

By Charles ArikoFORMER gender minister Vincent Nyanzi has asked court to speed up his trial in which he is accused of murder.Nyanzi, the elected Busujju MP, is alleged to have murdered Vincent Mwebesa at Banda village in Mubende district on June 26 last year.Nyanzi yesterday told court at Nakawa that he was ‘confused’ by the endless reports by the Police that they were still carrying out investigations.“The army carried out investigations and even sent a report to the minister in-charge of security who also sent a team to investigate the case. I am wondering when the case will take off,” Nyanzi said.Nakawa chief magistrate John Arutu, who said the Police said inquiries were almost over by last December, wondered why no report had been made to the court.Ends
