FRESH reports indicate girls took the top three positions in the last Primary Leaving Examinations, reports John Eremu.The list of the best 50 candidates by order of merit showed Agnes Omega of Greenhill Academy and Vivian Ikatekit of Kampala Parents School at the helm, each scoring 386 out of 400 marks.Cissy Nabankema of Bright Grammar School, Masaka, followed with 383 marks before Ivan Mandu of Iganga Boys, Franklin Kasumba of Buddo Junior and Anatoli Barongo of Sir Apollo Kaggwa broke the girls’ hold, all of them tying at 382 marks.Primary school candidates sit for four subjects, each is marked out of 100. The subjects are Mathematics, Social Studies, English and Basic Science.The rankings by order of merit from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) showed Greenhill Academy dominating the list with eight pupils among the top 50. It was followed by Bright Grammar Masaka with seven and Kampala Parents School and Iganga Boys each with four candidates.The rankings placed Lorna Nassuna of Greenhill Academy seventh. She scored 381 marks and so was Sharif Kikomeko of Bat Valley Primary School.Other candidates who tied at 381 were Andrew Kazibwe of Bright Grammar Masaka, Rona Barugahare of the Aga Khan Primary School, Mark Arinaitwe of Entebbe Christian School and Damalie Nsangi Kajumba of Entebbe Primary School.Charles Wanume of Iganga Boys came thirteenth with 380 marks tying with Mary Nayiga of Greenhill Academy, Mary Nakabugo of Budo Junior, Grace Mukunzi of Namugongo, Atuhire Mugisha of Kampala Parents, Sheila Ampaire of Namagunga and Andrew Ssemugenyi of Bright Grammar.Ends
