Nkoyooyo, Mateke To Meet Over Muhabura

THE Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo has invited former state minister Philemon Mateke for a meeting over the crisis in Muhabura diocese, Kisoro district.

By Hamis KaheruTHE Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo has invited former state minister Philemon Mateke for a meeting over the crisis in Muhabura diocese, Kisoro district.The meeting is scheduled for March 6 at Namirembe, Mateke said yesterday at a meeting with Christians at the diocese.The meeting had been called by Mateke who is the LC5 chairman-elect to consult the Christians. He is also the head of laity.About 500 Christians, including several pastors from the district, attended the meeting which was closely watched by about 15 Policemen.The meeting selected a group to accompany Mateke to meet Nkooyoyo.Those selected were the Rev. Canon John Bitanguramye, the Rev Canon John Ssebazungu, David Munyangabo, Liz Habimana and Eunice Rwerekane. The meeting resolved to ask Nkoyooyo to appoint a caretaker to run the diocese while the crisis is being sorted out.Ends
