The Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic diocese Paul Kalanda has thanked the Government for the refund of sh200m in Value Added Tax on materials used to reconstruct Virika Hospital, reports Emmanuel Mulondo.

The Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic diocese Paul Kalanda has thanked the Government for the refund of sh200m in Value Added Tax on materials used to reconstruct Virika Hospital, reports Emmanuel Mulondo.He was speaking during the re-opening ceremony of the hospital.The hospital was in 1994 devastated by an earthquake that left 95% of it beyond repair. Kalanda thanked donors including industrialist Armirali Karimar (Mukwano) who donated US$200,000, the European Union, Shell Uganda, Barclays Bank, Hima Cement Factory and Kabarole Rotary club.He said the success of the reconstruction was through prayer and planning. Prof. Edward Rugumayo represented health minister Brigadier Jim Muhwezi at the ceremony.Ends
