YES, the music witches and wizards have returned. This time, a little drop of their charm will melt even a rock-solid heart and drive out demons from a troubled soul.

By Cynthia NankumbaYES, the music witches and wizards have returned. This time, a little drop of their charm will melt even a rock-solid heart and drive out demons from a troubled soul.Christ the King Association Choir will this Sunday evening take the initiative to usher the public into the first festive season of this year. Action will be displayed at Christ the King Church. The association, comprising six choirs of Christ the King Parish, will finally unleash the music menu they have been secretly spicing up and perfecting since January this year. Christ the King Parish Choir members, said to have crisp and delicious voices which paralyse hearts of mammoth crowds, are back with classics that have clearly distinguished them as a first class choral group. The six parish choirs have effectively represented Uganda and Africa at various international choral festivals. In 1988, the Catholic Centenary Memorial Choir (CACEMCHO) beat 89 choirs to win the International Federation of Choral Music festivals in Germany. In 1997, the Franciscan Choir came third in International Choral festivals held in Germany. In 1998 and 2000, Christ the King Choir effectively represented Africa at two international choral events in Canada and Oregon, USA as the only African choir selected. On the local scene, the Association Choir has for 20 consecutive years won the local choral festivals held at the deanery and diocesan level. The association has also recorded volumes of music, which have sold extensively locally and internationally.According to the association’s music director, Michael Mukisa, Sunday’s Easter carols will include work by Amadeus Mozart, the greatest 18th century composer of classical music. The pieces will include: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei. The choir will also perform a few local compositions to spice up the evening carol concert. Therefore, with such a giant curriculum vitae, Mukisa says the public is in for a high quality and entertaining performance. The choir has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that they still rule the kingdom of choral music in Uganda.ends
