ALL residential buildings in Luweero Police Barracks have been declared unfit for human habitation by the health authorities, reports Frederick Kiwanuka. The District Police Commander, Godfrey Taire, told the Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala, last week that the residences, including his, were no longer hygienic. The mud and wattle structures, constructed before independence, have cracks in the walls and the roofs are leaking. Taire said the situation was appaling and needed immediate attention. Katumba said he appreciated the problem but said it was common countrywide. “At least here you are spaced. In some barracks, two families share a unipot,” he said. Katumba, however, said more unipots would be acquired.Ends
