M2M DAS challenge rowers stranded on Lake Victoria

By Phillip CorryTERRIBLE tides on the waters of Lake Victoria have made it impossible for M2M Das Challenge rowers conclude their journey today.According to Yvonne Verkaik, coordinator of Rhino Fund Uganda, the sailors experienced problems on their journey back to Munyonyo, prompting them to cancel their plans of ending their challenge today. The tough journey that was expected to end today, has now been pushed to tomorrow when the six rowers and six support crew members deck at Speke Resort and country lodge at Munyonyo, south of Kampala.The rowers who started their gruelling journey from Mwanza in Tanzania have faced strong tides and bad weather that have affected their challenge.The rowers are raising funds for the Rhino Fund Uganda, Hospice Uganda and Nsambya Babies Home. Rhino Fund would take 70% of the fund raised while Hospice and Nsambya Babies Home share 30%.ends
