The Carnegie Corporation of New York has made a grant to Makerere University Library, part of which is to be applied to the procurement of equipment. Makerere University is now inviting bids for the supply and installation of the following equipment: Lot 1 - 10 computers - 4 UPSs - 4 scanners - 2 Multi-CD-Drives (>20 towers) - 2 servers Lot 2: - 1 Heavy duty photocopier Lot 3: - 2 Local Area Networks (LAN of 35 data points where a network with 25 will be installed at Albert Cook Library and the other with 10 points installed at Education Library. Authorised representatives of the manufacturers indicated are invited to bid for the supply of these items, preferably in lots where Lot 1 (one) will be computers and accessories, Lot 2 (two) photocopier and Lot 3 (three) local area network equipment. Prospective bidders should note that: 1. Inquiries about this tender can be made to the University Librarian. 2. Supply of equipment in lot one and three should conform to the approved standards and brands by Makerere University. 3. The closing date for the submission of quotations will be 5th May, 2002. 4. The successful bidder will be required to deliver all equipment within 2 months of issuance of an LPO. 5. The successful bidder will be required to execute a 10% performance bond that will be forfeited in the event of failure to deliver as per successful bid after award of the tender. 6. Bidders are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Shs. 50,000/= at UCB Makerere through the University Cash Office. 7. Tender bids should be submitted to the purchasing office Room 210, Main Building Makerere University. 8. The University is not bound to accept the lowest or any tender. More details of instructions to bidders and the scoring instrument to be used in selecting the most competitive bidder can be collected from Purchasing Office Room 210, Main Building.
