By Norman Katende CURIOSITY is the description of the different athletes that turned up to take part in the Queens baton relay around Kampala.Dressed in white and Red Coca Cola T-shirts, the athletes looked forward to have a feel of the famous queen’s baton which was escorted by Commonwealth Games Federation chairman Michael Fenell and his vice in charge of Africa, Edgar Rogers. At the Constitutional Square, which was the official start for the relay that ran across Kampala and Wakiso districts, the athletes waited anxiously as they peered at the silver case that carried the baton. They were only praying to get a feel of the £40,000 worth equipment, going through 24 Commonwealth member countries across Africa. And when it was time to remove it from its case, it was a dream come true as the probable Uganda flag bearers to the Commonwealth started the relay covered by foreign and local media. The athletes included Grace Birungi, Mary Musoke, Paul Mutambuze and Francis Ogola. The baton leaves today for Tanzania and later to South Africa.ends
