An 18-year-old girl yesterday came to The New Vision’s Tororo bureau and broke into tears, paralysing the news room, after failing to get transport to enable her to trace her parents in Katakwi District.Sarah Alupot said she was chased away by her aunt Anna Grace Achom from Mombasa, Kenya, where they had been staying. She claims that Achom took her to Mombasa when she was only two weeks old after the parents wanted to throw her away. She claimed that her father’s name is Jackson Lugard Omongin and the mum is Ruth Aguti. She said Achom had given her some transport to enable her reach Katakwi, but the boda-boda that had given her a lift conned her out of the money she had.Carrying a few clothes in a polythene bag, Alupot said she had been sleeping on verandas for days before some ‘savedees’ (born again christians) took her to their home opposite Rock High School, where the street children had attempted to rape her. This reporter then directed her to the probation and the welfare officer, who said he will raise some money to enable Alupot to reach Katakwi, where more assistance will be given to her.ends
