THREE suspected thieves were on Thursday lynched and their bodies set ablaze by an angry mob in two separate incidents in Kamuli district.

By Moses NampalaTHREE suspected thieves were on Thursday lynched and their bodies set ablaze by an angry mob in two separate incidents in Kamuli district.The district Deputy Officer in-charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Mr. Shafan Osile, said Robert Mawerere, Jamada Mujagendo and Abdu Sekitoleko were killed by mob action.Osile said investigations into the two incidents were still going on. Residents of Namulikya village in Bugaya sub-county, attacked Mawerere and Mujagendo with sharp objects, sticks and stones after stolen merchandise worth sh800, 000 was allegedly recovered from their homes.Mawerere and Mujagendo were allegedly part of a gang that broke into a shop in Namulukya trading centre and looted most of the merchandise.Acting on a tip-off, the incensed residents on Thursday morning reportedly stormed the homes of the suspects and proceeding to search for the stolen merchandise.On recovering the merchandise, Police was told, the angry mob lynched the suspects.Osile said Sekitoleko was lynched in a separate incident in Kabukye village, Kitayundwa sub-county after he was accused of stealing 10 pieces of timber.Ends
