Kazini shuffles Mbarara, Gulu command
THE Army commander, Maj. Gen. James Kazini, has reshuffled the military command for the UPDF 4th and 2nd Divisions based in Gulu and Mbarara respectively.

Geoffrey Muheesi, who has been 4th Division Commander, moves to the Army Headquarters in Bombo to the low key post of Deputy Chief of Operations and Training (COT).Col. Andrew Gutti, who has been the 2nd Division Commander with its headquarters in Mbarara replaces Muheesi in Gulu. Muheesi replaces Col. Hudson Mukasa in the changes made on Thursday. Mukasa becomes the deputy Chief Political Commissar (D/CPC).Col. Poteli Kivuna, who has been UPDF 2nd Division deputy commander, takes over the Division as a full commander. Sources said Kazini directed Kivuna to shift his base from Mbarara to Rwenzori Mountain ranges to “effectively oversee†security in Western Uganda and parts of Eastern Congo.The army spokesman, Maj. Shaban Bantariza, said the transfers and changes made by the Army Commander were aimed at strengthening the UPDF force.“The transfers and changes made are in accordance with the military strategies,†Bantariza said.He said the changes took immediate effect.
