Tz army to support UPDF

THE Tanzanian Peoples Defence Forces has pledged to continue supporting the UPDF and the Government in maintaining security in the country.

This was contained in a message from the chief of staff of the Tanzanian People Defence Forces delivered by Major General Mwamunyange, the Tanzanian Chief of National Service.Mwamunyange was recently speaking at Hotel Margarita in Kasese town at a meeting between a Tanzanian military delegation and the UPDF officers in the Rwenzori region. The Tanzanian delegation was led by General D.B. Musuguri, the commander of the Tanzania armed force which ousted the dictatorial regime of Idi Amin in 1979.Uganda’s army acting chief of staff Nakibua Lakara, who accompanied the delegation for a one-day visit to Kasese, attended the meeting.The delegation was in the area to familiarise themselves with the UPDF successes against the ADF rebellionMwamunyange paid tribute to the UPDF and the civilians for containing external threats.
