Police shoot Mengo thugs dead

By Steven Candia IN a fierce gun battle after hot pursuit, the Police shot dead two armed thugs in Mengo, Rubaga division in Kampala after they robbed a vehicle on Thursday night.Kampala Police Chief Ahmed Wafuba yesterday confirmed the incident and said a gun was recovered from the thugs.Badru Kakooza, a resident of Salaama parish in Makindye division and his colleague whose identity could not be established, were gunned down on Sentama road in Mengo. “We put out of action two armed thugs who had robbed a vehicle. The third managed to escape but we recovered an SMG rifle from them,” Wafuba said.He said the incident occurred at about 7:30pm when three armed thugs intercepted and robbed a Sahara pick-up truck, registration number UAD 330L, on Makerere Hill Road in Old Kampala and sped off towards Mengo. However, he could not establish the identity of the car owner.
