Miss Uganda 2001 Victoria Nabunya visited the hospital. patients and their attendants cooking meals outside were excited to see her. nurses gathered around to catch sight of Nabunya and almost all the women waiting to go into labour left their beds to see the entourage that surrounded her. Nabunya was in Lira to attend the 2002 Miss Uganda Northern Region finals held on Saturday night. As part of her duties as the country’s reigning beauty, she toured the maternity ward and talked to patients. Accompanied by the reigning Miss Lira, Christine Akullo, she visited the labour ward and comforted women who had just delivered. One of them, Susan Ajwang, 20, named her baby boy Victor, after Victoria. “The staff are doing a great job and they display great courage. They have saved lives of many people,” Nabunya said. She handed over 30 blankets worth over sh 500,000 donated by MTN, which sponsors the Miss Uganda pageant. Ends
