MTN spread sponsorship hand into basketball

BY DOUGLAS MAZUNETHE Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) league has landed a new sponsor in MTN-UgandaThe league has been doing without sponsorship since 1998 when Sprite pulled out.MTN has given FUBA a sh5m package and the league that tips off this Sunday will consequently be called FUBA 2002 MTN league.MTN promotions and sponsorship manager Aggrey Kagonyera and public relations officer Phillip Besiimire yesterday handed over the sponsorship package to FUBA officials at YMCA Wandegeya.The sponsorship will go to publicity, balls, nets, venues and administration of the league.“It is hoped that this sponsorship will rise substantially next year depending on various factors,” Besiimire said.FUBA chairman Juma Seiko and his general secretary Peninah Kabenge hailed MTN for bailing out the league.ends
