By Steven CandiaMARINE laws are insufficient and need a “general overhaul” if marine accidents are to be avoided, the police have said.The commandant of the Police marines, Joseph Katuramu, on Thursday said many regulatory provisions for the marines had not been legalised.“The laws and regulations relating to the marines are archaic, weak and obsolete. The Central Licensing Board in the Ministry of Works Transport and Communi-cations should amend them to avert more accidents,” Katuramu said.He said boat owners must have a navigation license and passengers and crew required to wear life jackets.
